I read about this jam on the internet that RAF pilots would consume some Bilberry jam and somehow this would increase their night vision. I don't know if any of that is true, but what I can say is that it is very delicious and I will purchase more Bilberry jam. The problem is the shipping cost for a jar of the stuff. Come on, twice the price of the product? Bionaturae is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands.I buy this spread at my local natural foods store. It was one of the two fruit spreads (the other being Bionaturae's wild berry) that had neither citric acid nor sugar cane (both are excluded by my diet). Call me crazy, but this stuff is so good I eat it out of the jar. I do not eat bread and so do not have much on which to spread it, but a spoonful after dinner or in the afternoon is a wonderful treat. I've been thinking about mixing it with the bilberry juice (also delicious) in popsicle molds for a frozen delight. The flavor reminds me of black currants. It's tart but still sweet. If you like spreads with a little more bite than sweet this is an excellent choice. |
